Joseph (Vachub) WALKUP Sr.
General Notes: Joseph Walkup, Sr. served in Capt. Andrew Bryan's Co., Virginia Militia from 13 Dec 1812 to 1 Apr 1813. He was drafted at Lewisburg in Capt. Solomon Taylor's Co. and marched under him to Point Pleasant where he was transferred to Capt. Andrew Bryan's Co. and was later discharged at Fort Meigs, OH. He received a bounty land warrant for 160 acres of land in 1855 (#28019). He received a pension of $8/month beginning on 11 Sep 1872. Noted events in his life were: • Military: War of 1812: Capt. Andrew Bryan's Co., Virginia Militia, Between 1812 and 1813. • Occupation: Farmer. Joseph married Nancy A. PRICE on 10 Jul 1808 in Greenbrier Co., VA.620 (Nancy A. PRICE was born in 1787 in MD 86 and died before 1870 in Walkers Meadow, Greenbrier Co., WV.) Marriage Notes: According to his War of 1812 Pension Application, Joseph and Nancy Walkup were married on 8 March 1808. |
