General Notes: In a raid on the Waggoner family, John's wife Margaret Bonnett Waggoner was brutally slain along with 4 small sons. His daughter Elizabeth was captured by Tecumseh and sold as a slave to an Indian squaw. It is thought that the four small boys may have been named as follows: William, after John's father; Samuel, after Margaret's father; John, after John Waggoner; Lewis, after Lewis Bonnett. Noted events in his life were: • Military: American Revolution: Private, Ranger, Indian Spy, VA Militia. John married Margaret BONNETT, daughter of Samuel BONNETT and Mary Elizabeth LORENTZ, in 1778 in Harrison Co., VA.771 (Margaret BONNETT was born in 1759 in Cedar Creek, Hampshire Co., VA 771 and died on 7 May 1792 in Jesse's Run, Harrison Co., VA 771.) John next married Hannay KEYLES in 1793 in Moorefield, Hardy Co., VA. (Hannay KEYLES was born about 1755.) John next married Susannah RICHARDS on 16 Feb 1798 in Harrison Co., VA.15 |
