MASSILLON, Ohio - Patricia Ann Walkup-Blocher, 58, of Massillon, passed away on Monday, May 4, 2009, at Legends Care Center, Massillon, Ohio, following a long illness.
Born September 30, 1950, at Orient Hill, W.Va., she was the daughter of Dora Taylor Walkup Gwinn of Charmco, and the late Woodrow Walkup. Other than her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Murphy, and a brother, Eli Walkup.
She was a member of the Orient Hill Baptist Church, Orient Hill, and had worked at the White Oak Convalescent Home in Canton, Ohio.
She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Lones and husband Gunner, and son, Robert Blocher Jr., all of Massillon, Ohio; her mother, Dora (Walkup) Gwinn of Charmco, W.Va.; four brothers, Woodrow Walkup Jr. of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Gary Walkup of Alderson, W.Va., Jimmy Walkup of Orient Hill, W.Va., Darrell Walkup of Bingham, W.Va.; two sisters, Jean Gladwell of Rainelle, W.Va., and Sharon Judy of Rupert, W.Va.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 9, 2009, at Orient Hill Baptist Church at Orient Hill, with Rev. Houston Boothe officiating. Her ashes will be buried at the Orient Hill Cemetery, following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations of sympathy be sent to Paquelet Funeral Home at 1100 Wales Road, N.E., Massillon, OH 44646, to help with the funeral expenses.
