STATESVILLE, N.C. - William “Bill” Walkup Sr., 61, formerly of Orient Hill, W.Va., passed away at his home in Statesville, N.C., Saturday morning, July 4, 2009, following a short illness.
Born Oct. 6, 1947, at Crichton, he was the son of the late Helen Marie Boothe.
Bill was a graduate of Crichton High School, and a member of Hillsdale Baptist Church in Statesville, N.C.
He was a wood worker and a machine operator for Kewaunee Scientific Corporation.
Other than his mother, he was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Lue Walkup Richardson, and a brother, Robert Walkup.
Survivors include his wife of almost 43 years, Brenda Kashola Walkup of Statesville, N.C., formerly of Leslie, W.Va.; a son, William K. Walkup Jr. and wife, Joyce Ann of Statesville, N.C.; a daughter, Catrina Lynn W. Parrish and husband, Ralph of Statesville, N.C.; a brother, Randy Boothe and wife, Gloria of Ohio; four grandchildren, William K. Walkup III, Michael Allen Walkup, Stephanie Nicole Walkup and Linda Joyce Walkup; and one great-grandchild, William K. Walkup IV.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, July 10, 2009, at Orient Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Houston Boothe officiating, assisted by Pastor Fred Shoemaker of Statesville, N.C. Burial will follow in Wallace Memorial Cemetery, Clintonville.
Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday evening at the Wallace & Wallace Chapel in Rainelle.
