HAYDEN E. "SHORTY" Shawver Sr., 89, of Fayetteville died Jan. 21, 1993, at home after a short illness. He was retired from Union Carbide with 34 years service. He was a member of Fayetteville United Methodist Church, the Masons, American Security Council and National Advisory Board. He attended Alderson-Broaddus College and the former Morris Harvey College. Surviving: son, Hayden Jr. of Ocala, Fla.; daughters, Jean Crandall of Boone, N.C., Peggy Jones of West Des Moines, Iowa; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. Service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Dodd-Payne-Hess Funeral Home, Fayetteville, with the Rev. Billy Reed Wickline officiating. Burial will be in Huse Memorial Park, Fayetteville, with Masonic graveside rites. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Donations may be made to American Heart Association.
