Charles Edward McClung, aged 77 years, highly respected farmer and citizen, died at his home at Bingham, Monday, Oct. 11, following a long illness. He was a son of the late Charles L. and Mary Shawver McClung and was born near Quinwood May 6, 1866. He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Jane Callison Maclung, an adopted daughter, Mrs. Orpha J. Kinson, also the following children: Mrs. Bertha Williams and Mrs. Carrie Williams of Bingham, Mrs. Pansy Hines of Hines, and Lake McClung of Bingham, Clarence of Summersville and Wiliton on foreign duty with the army. He is also survived by 35 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, three brothers, C. P. McClung of Quinwood, 0. G. of Quinwood and P. O. of Rupert, eight sisters, Miss Piney McClung of Charleston, Mrs. Emma Smith, Mrs. Martha Smith and Mrs. Myrtle Smith all of Quinwood, Mrs. Peachie McClung of Quinwood, Mrs. Ella Hannah of Clintonville and Mrs. Nannie C. McClung of Wichita, Kansas.
Mr. McClung's wife is a patient at the East Rainelle General hospital suffering from severe burns received at her home about two weeks ago. She has been in very poor health for several months, and is almost completely blind.
Funeral services were held at Bascorn Methodist church at Rupert by the pastor, Rev. J. Elbert Perkins, with interment at the End of the Trail cemetery. He was a member of Mt. Zion Methodist church near Quinwood.
Charles married Rebecca Jane CALLISON, daughter of Charles Bivens CALLISON and Edward Ann "Nettie" McCLUNG, on 14 Dec 1887 in Greenbrier Co., WV.26 (Rebecca Jane CALLISON was born on 3 Mar 1865 in Greenbrier Co., WV,48 died on 28 Oct 1943 in Bingham, Greenbrier Co., WV 92 and was buried on 31 Oct 1943 in End Of The Trail Cemetery, Clintonville, Greenbrier Co., WV 66.). The cause of her death was chronic myocarditis.
