RUPERT \emdash Eddie Gene Walkup, 56, of Rupert, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 19, 2009, at home following a short illness.
Born April 7, 1953, in Beckley, he was the son of the late Garland Hamilton Walkup and Maxine Velma Shortridge Walkup.
Eddie was a welder in the construction business. He was a member of the Orient Hill Freewill Baptist Church, a former Boy Scout, and he loved music and playing the guitar.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Roger Dale Walkup.
Survivors include his mother, Maxine Walkup of Rupert; a sister, Joyce Smith of Hopewell, Va.; and two brothers, Harold Lee Walkup of Hines and Garland Wayne Walkup of Rupert.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 23, 2009, at the Orient Hill Freewill Baptist Church with Pastor Mike Kees and Pastor Benny Peyton officiating. Entombment will follow in the Wallace Memorial Mausoleum at Clintonville.
Friends may call from 6 until 8 p.m. today, Nov. 22, 2009, at the Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Rainelle.
