400-Pound Man, Rupert Resident, Dies on Birthday

RONCEVERTE - A 400-pound Greenbrier County man died on his 40th birthday Wednesday en route to Greenbrier Valley Hospital here.

Van Buren (Fats) Robinson, of Rupert, died from a heart attack. His wife quoted his doctor as saying his weight was responsible for the heart condition.

He was a mined employeed by the Lafayette Coal Co. at Duo, and a member of the UMW.

Surviving are his wife, Macel; two sons, Harold and Teddy at home; a daughter, Thelma at home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Willie W. Robinson, of Duo; and two brothers, Worthy of Duo and Willard of Cloverdale, Calif.

Service will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the Nickell mortuary chapel at East Rainelle with Rev. Elbert Perkins officiating. Burial will be in Rainelle Cemetery. The body is at the mortuary.
