The latest fatality occurred Sunday at noon near Springdale in Fayette County. James R. (Buddy) Martin, 47, a disabled miner of Dawson, Greenbrier County, died in route ro Summers County Hospital in Hinton after a car in which he was riding collided with another vehicle on W.Va. 20.
Four persons were injured in the accident. They were also taken to Sumemrs County Hospital. Emergency room personnel identified them as James Wheaton, 44, 244 Sixth St., Rainelle, driver of the car in which Martin was riding; Emery McGuire, 38, Phyllis McGuire, 18, and Melvin McGuire, 16, all of Danese, occupants of the second car. All four are patients at the hospital.
Martin's survivors are: wife, Opal; daughters, Mrs. Ruth Ann Hutsenpillar of Dunbar, Mrs. Linda Stalline of Baltimore, Md., Mrs. Connie Thomas of Rupert, Miss Debby Lynn Martin and Tammy Martin at home; sons, James R. Jr. and Sammy Ray of Charlotte, N.C, Larry S. with the Army at Fort Bragg, N.C., Jerry W., Michael David and Bobby Joe at home; father and stepmother Mr. and Mrs. Kay Martin of Dawson; sisters, Mrs. Althea Kirgan of Charlotte, N.C., Mrs. Martha Lynch of Bridgeport, Mrs. Greetha Childers, Mrs. Nancy Thomas and Mrs. Yavonnie Wills of Baltimore; brothers, Robert of Dawson, Whorlen of Clintonvite, Ardell K. of Charlotte.
Service will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. in the Meadow Grove Baptist Church at Dawson. The Rev. Rex Ball and the Rev. Leroy Crane will officiate. Burial will be in the Frantz Cemetery at Dawson. Friends may call at the Smathers Funeral Home, Rainelle, Wednesday after 1 p.m.
Buddy married Opal F. HINKLE. (Opal F. HINKLE was born on 11 Apr 1927 in Greenbrier Co., WV 55 and died on 13 Sep 1987 in Roanoke, VA 55,74.)
