RUPERT ? William Elvin Shafer, 70, of Rupert, died Sunday in a Bluefield hospital after a long illness. He was a charter member of Big Clear Creek Baptist Church and owner and operator of Shafer Hardware Co. in Rupert.
Surviving are his wife, Kathryn; a daughter, Jackie at home; a son, Bill of Rupert; a sister, Mrs. Amie Parker of Danese; and two grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Big Clear Creek Baptist Church at Rupert by the Rev. Lee White. Burial will be in Wallace Memorial Cemetery near Clintonville.
The body is at Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home in East Rainelle.
William married Amanda Kathryn ZOPP, daughter of Benjamin Wilson ZOPP and Catherine CRANE, in 1918.88 (Amanda Kathryn ZOPP was born on 29 Mar 1893 in Rupert, Greenbrier Co., WV,1832 died on 22 May 1988 in Rupert, Greenbrier Co., WV 74 and was buried in Wallace Memorial Cemetery, Clintonville, Greenbrier Co., WV.)
