Rites Scheduled For L. Balaskey
Funeral services for Louis Balaskey, 57, formerly of Prosperity, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Williams Funeral Home Chapel at Sophia with Rev. Ernest Barley officiating. Burial will be in the Canaday Cemetery at Glen View.
Balaskey died at 8:45 a.m. in Saturday in a Chillicothe, Ohio hospital following a long illness. He was a disabled miner and a veteran of World War II. Born Jan. 16, 1918 in New Brunswick, N.J., he was a son of the late Frank and Julia Balaskey.
Survivors include his wife, Freda Cozart Balaskey of Beckley; a stepson, Jack E. Cozart of Crab Orchard; three brothers, Frank of Durham, N. C. and Charles and Ernest, both of Pontiac, Mich.; four sisters, Mrs. Suzie Lovell of Sprague, Mrs. Annie Harupo of Baltimore, Md., and Mrs. Nellie Colgan and Mrs. Julia Benjamin, both of Pontiac, Mich.; and two grandchildren.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 9 p.m. today.
Louis married Carrie Freda COZART, daughter of Andrew Jackson "Jack" COZART and Minnie HALEY, on 5 May 1955 in MacArthur, Raleigh Co., WV.1324 (Carrie Freda COZART was born on 10 Feb 1920 in Bolt, Raleigh Co., WV,55 died on 12 Jul 1998 in Beckley, Raleigh Co., WV 74 and was buried on 14 Jul 1998 in Canaday Cemetery, Glen View, Raleigh Co., WV 74.)
