Funeral services for Charles Lucas, 84, of Glen Daniel, will be held Friday at 2 p. m. in the Glen Daniel Methodist Church with the Rev. Robert L. Davis and the Rev. Virgil Cook in charge. Burial will follow in the family cemetery at Glen Daniel.
Lucas died Wednesday at 1:45 a.m. in a local hospital following a long illness.
Born at Saxon Feb. 2, 1883, he was a son of the late Clark and Elmira Milam Lucas. Lucas had been a lifelong resident of the Glen Daniel area where he was a farmer and a member of the Glen Daniel Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Minnie Lucas, at home; three daughters, Mrs. Dewey (Emma) Stewart of Jesse, Mrs. Doff (Lillie) Dillon of Mount Tabor and Mrs. Acie (Ophia) Stewart of Pineville; four sons, Roy J. Lucas and Claude, both of Beckley, Chester of Princewick and Charles Jr. of Glen Daniel; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; five sisters, Mrs. Sarah Godby of Harper, Mrs. Emma Daniel of Oceana, Mrs. Citie Manning of Milton, Mrs. Betty Fitzgerald and Mrs. Rosa Patton, both of Beekley and two brothers, French Lucas of Beckley and Adan Lucas of Layland.
Friends may call at the Melton Mortuary after 5 p. m. today.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers and women of the Sunday school class will serve as flowerbearers.
