Miss Mittie Hughes Becomes Bride Of Robert Foust Blagg In Church Ceremony Thursday
A quiet, simple but impressive wedding was solemnized at the First Evangelical and Reformed church at 1 o'clock Thursday evening when Miss Mittie Hughes, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Peter Manuel Hughes became the bride of Robert Foust Blagg, son of Mrs. Alma Blagg, of this city. Rev. George E. Dillinger pastor of the bridegroom officiated at the ceremony, using the beautiful ring service of the church.
A few palms and altar vases filled with stately white gladioli were used as decorations. White tapers in candelabra upon the altar made the soft shaded effect beautiful.
Only the Immediate families and a few close friends of the couple were present for the ceremony. Prior to the ceremony, Mrs. Herbert W. Coble, organist, played Schubert's "Serenade," a Bach Chorale, Beethoven's "Moonlight Sonata, Chopin's "Nocturne," "Indian Love Call," by Cadman, and "Ave Maria," by Bach-Gounod. The traditional wedding marches were used as the processional and recessional. During the speaking of the vows, Mrs. Coble played softly "To a Wild Rose," by MacDowell. The bride and bridegroom entered the church together, unattended. lie bride was attired in an atractive dressmaker suit of soldier blue gabardine with accessories of black. At her shoulder she pinned a corsage of gardenias.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Elsenberg on Aycock avenue in honor of the bridal couple and celebrating the Eisenberg's twentieth wedding anniversary.
The house was artistically decorated in lovely spring flowers. The dining room was elaborately decorated in the wedding motif of green and white. A lovely handmade tablecloth, consisting of over 800 crocheted squares, covered the table. Centering the table was an arrangement of narcissus and on opposite ends were silver candelabra holding white tapers. Flowerlike arrangements of pickles and olives interspersed with dainty trays of sandwiches in bridal motif, tea rings and green mints were used. A large tiered wedding cake was topped by a bride and groom. Pouring coffee from the silver services were Mrs. Henry Atwater, sister of the bridegroom, and Mrs. Hy Hacker, house guest of the Eisenbergs. Assisting in serving were Mises June and Anne Elsenberg.
Music selections were presented during the evening by Mrs. Herbert W. Coble and the Misses Eisenberg.
During the reception approximately 15 guests enjoyed the evening. Mr. and Mrs. A. N. Bernstein said goodbyes.
Mr. and Mrs. Blagg will make their home with the bridegroom's mother on South Broad street.
