LEWISBURG - Emma Hunter Newton, 72, of Lewisburg died June 21, 1999, in Greenbrier Medical Center, Fairlea, after a long illness.
She was a member of Lewisburg United Methodist Church, a former employee of the state Department of Human Services, a retired employee of the Federal Bureau of Prisons and a member of the Rebekah Lodge.
Surviving: son, J. Steven Hunter of Lewisburg; sisters, Dorothy B. Hardiman of Belle, Nellie B. Goodwin and Sallie B. Goodwin, both of Fairlea; one grandson.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at McCraw Funeral Home, Lewisburg, with the Rev. Patricia Jarvis and the Rev. Julian Sulgit officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Greenbrier Memorial Gardens, Lewisburg. Friends may call after the service at Lewisburg United Methodist Church. The family suggests donations to the American Lung Association, c/o United Way of Greenbrier County, 200 W. Washington St., Lewisburg, WV 24901.
Emma married Roy Miles HUNTER, son of John Preston HUNTER and Elizabeth Jane "Lizzie" CRONE.
