Nicholas Hunter Is Fatally Shot
Summersville, Nov. 4 - Donzel Malcolm, 27, was killed instantly about noon Friday when the charge from a shotgun carried by his brother accidentally discharged. Sheriff John Bell gave this version of the shooting:
The two men, employes of the Tioga Coal Corp., were hunting near the Tioga mine when they decided to separate and go in different directions.
A few moments later, while the brothers were still near each other, Denzel who called to Boyd, about 19, that a quail was in the air, and as Boyd wheeled around his gun discharged accidentally, the charge striking the older man in the back of the neck.
A coroner's inquest was conducted by Squire Joe McMillion, and the verdict was death by accidental shooting.
The deceased as a son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Malcolm of Tioga.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete.
Don married Bonnie Lee HUNTER, daughter of George Washington HUNTER and Bessie Irene OSBORNE, on 24 Dec 1947 in Richwood, Nicholas Co., WV.933 (Bonnie Lee HUNTER was born on 1 Oct 1929 in Greenbrier Co., WV 936,937 and died on 8 Oct 2011 in KY 937.)
