Oather Hobson ?Mac? McClung Jr., 81, of Newark, Ohio, formerly of Rupert, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2008, in the Flint Ridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Newark, Ohio.

Born July 29, 1927, in Rupert, he was the son of the late Oather H. and Nina I. Bennett McClung Sr.

Mac was a retired mechanic for Matlack Trucking and served as a Photographer Mate 3rd Class in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Dennis; a sister, Dorothy; a grandson, Ryan Lee; and a daughter-in-law, Dottie Church McClung.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Ruth McClung; seven children, Marilyn (Mark) Caniff, Gary (Carol) McClung, Roger (Evelyn) McClung, Glen McClung, Sherri (Jon) Hatfield, Lori (Tom) Vogelmeier, and Casey (Joe) Wright; 11 grandchildren, Jeffrey Bryant, Michael Caniff, Gary W. McClung Jr., Bridget (Ben) Baker, Kyle McClung, Benjamin McClung, Jack Brady Hatfield, Tanner Vogelmeier, Taylor Vogelmeier, Kody Wright, and Kellan (Brittani) Wright; six great-grandchildren, Erin Bryant, Joel Caniff, Nicole McClung, Ryan Baker, Haid-en Wright, and Elijah Wright; four brothers, Don (Deanna) McClung, David (Terri) McClung, Delmas (June) McClung, and Larry (Janey) McClung; five sisters, Frances (Eugene) Cales, Florence Anderson, Frankie Meadows, Naomi (William) Pittsenbarger, and Martha McClung; 20 nieces and nephews; 38 great-nieces and nephews; and 20 great-great-nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 22, 2008, in the Fairview Cemetery at Nettie.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Smathers Funeral Chapel, Rainelle.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations of sympathy by made to The National Kidney Foundation, 1373 Grandview Ave., Suite 200, Columbus, OH 43212.
