ALDERSON -- Verna Dale "Pat" Beitz Bennett, 75, died Monday, June 13, 2005, at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center, Fairlea, following a sudden illness.
Born July 20, 1929, at Clintonville, she was the daughter of the late Jess and Neta Hedrick Beitz.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Ashby Coy "Sam" Bennett; two brothers, Norlan Beitz and Lyle Edward "Jake" Beitz; and two sisters, Ronalda Beitz Stone and Lorraine Beitz.
Mrs. Bennett was a retired counselor, having retired from the Federal Bureau of Prisons in Alderson after 20 years of service. She was a member of Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church, Alderson, and was a 50-year member of Alderson Chapter No. 119, Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include a son, George S. Bennett of Lewisburg; a daughter, Lisa Humphreys and her husband, Thomas H., of New Carlisle, Ohio; a sister, Geraldine "Jerry" Levier and her husband, Jim, of Durand, Mich.; and several nieces and nephews.
Service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Lobban Funeral Home Chapel, Alderson, with the Rev. Sam Groves officiating. Burial will follow in Wallace Memorial Cemetery, Clintonville.
Friends may call 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jack Carden, Robert Larue, Steven Harris, Jim Eskins, Harold Boggess and Lee Skaggs.
