SUMMERSVILLE - Mrs. Hettie Frances McClung died Tuesday at nearby Poe, leaving 157 direct descendants. She was 82.
Mrs. McClung died at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Garvis Hypes, with whom she lived.
She was a member of the Swiss Missionary Baptist Church.
Also surviving are two sons, Frank of Elkview and Morgan A. of Warren, Ohio; eight other daughters, Mrs. Clem Hypes and Mrs. Hawley Gray, both of Poe, Mrs. K. V. Neil of Jodie, Mrs. Howard Wolfe of Grimms Landing, Mrs. C. E. Moore of South Lyon, Mich., Mrs. Mary Dye of Fayettevilie, Mrs. C. E. Thomas of Lockwood and Mrs. Burton Cogar of Davin; 55 grandchildren; and 91 great-grandchildren.
Service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Bethel Methodist Church at Poe by Rev. Joe Brown and Rev. Clyde Harler. Burial will be in Summers Cemetery at Lockwood.
The body will be taken from Waters Funeral Chapel here to the church an hour before service.
Hettie married Morgan Alexander McCLUNG Sr., son of Rufus Pitzer McCLUNG and Elizabeth Ann "Betty" McCLINTIC, on 24 Jan 1900 in Nicholas Co., WV.53 (Morgan Alexander McCLUNG Sr. was born on 29 May 1875 in Fayette Co., WV,4319 died on 19 Aug 1948 in Swiss, Nicholas Co., WV 4319 and was buried on 21 Aug 1948 in Summers Cemetery, Lockwood, Nicholas Co., WV 4319.). The cause of his death was cerebral hemorrhage.
