John Via Dies; Funeral Monday
ALDERSON (RNS) - John Everette Via, 81, Alderson, died in his home at 2 p.m. Saturday after a long illness.
He was a retired farmer and a member of the Old Grenbrier Baptist Church. Born at Edray in Pocahontas County April 8, 1878, he was a son of the late Wesley T. Via and Mary C. Harper Via.
Surviving are his wife Lou Elizabeth Via, Aldenson; four daughters, Mrs. Thelma M. Sims, Mrs. Lucille V. Groseclose, and Mrs. Lou Elizabeth Holliday, all of Alderson, and Mrs. Gladys V. Martin, Lewisburg; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one sister, Susie E. Boone, Lewisburg.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p. m. Monday in the Old Greenbrier Baptist Church with Dr. J. Maurice Trimmer officiating. Burial will be in End-of-the-Trail Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Charles B. Rowe, L. C. Spence, Rufus Bryant, Ernest Boyd, Harry Scott, Frank Rookstool, Joe Smith, and Cody Grimmett.
The body is at the Lobban Funeral Home and will be taken to the residence at 2 p.m. today.
John married Lou Elizabeth "Lulie" TUCKWILLER, daughter of John TUCKWILLER and Martha Ellen DEITZ.
