SMOOT - EDGAR E. WELCH, 73, OF SMOOT, GREENBRIER County, died Tuesday at home after a short illness. He was a member of Smoot United Methodist Church and was a 35-year resident of Smoot. He was a member of Ruritan Club and K. of P. He was a retired employee of Meadow River Lumber Co. Surviving: wife, Audrey Welch; daughter, Karen Cadle of Smoot; parents, Frank and Esta Fox Welch; sisters, Mrs. Frankie Withrow and Mrs. Nellie Lusher, both of Green Sulphur Springs; brother, Willie of Green Sulphur Springs; four grandchildren. Service will be 2 p.m. Friday in Smoot United Methodist Church with the Rev. Clyde Gum and the Rev. Roy Gwinn officiating. Burial will be in End of the Trail Cemetery, Clintonville.
Edgar married Audrey F. OSBORNE, daughter of James William OSBORNE and Mattie Vesta SMITH. (Audrey F. OSBORNE was born on 19 May 1920 in Greenbrier Co., WV 55 and died on 20 Sep 1996 in Smoot, Greenbrier Co., WV 55.)
