RAINELLE - ELMER HOMER SANFORD, 71, OF Rainelle, died Wednesday in Humana Hospital Greenbrier Valley, Fairlea, after a short illness. He was a retired miner. He was a member of Sewell Valley Baptist Church and the UMW. Surviving: wife, Theda Surbaugh Sanford: sons, Elmer E. of Danese, Roger Lee of Alexandria, Ga., Ronald S. of Spotsylvania, Va.; daughters, Theda Delores Podwils of Falls Church, Va., Drema Gail Bowles of Vienna, Va., Barbara Carol Pelphrey of Sidney, Ohio; sister, Dicie Simms of Rainelle; 15 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. Service will be at 2 p.m. today in Smathers Funeral Home, Rainelle, with the Rev. Ernest Barley and the Rev. J.D. Surbaugh officiating. Burial will be in Wallace Memorial Cemetery, Clintonville.
