MOUNT HOPE \emdash Russell (Rusty) Allen May, 52, of Mount Hope, passed away Thursday, June 17, 2010, at home after a long battle with cancer.

Born Jan. 5, 1958, in Rainelle, he was a graduate of the Greenbrier West High School Class of 1977.

A former employee of Silverpoint Homes of Beaver, WV, he was a member of the Sewell Valley Baptist Church of Rainelle and a lifetime member of the New River Gorge Harley Owner's Group Chapter.

Rusty was preceded in death by: grandparents, Jesse and Florence Boggs May, and Lacy and Violet Osborne Walkup; and sister-in-law, Stormy May.

Survivors include: a son, Matthew (Matt) May of Mount Hope; parents, Connie and Herbert May, Sr., of Rainelle; a sister, Cheryl Bland and husband, Brian, of Meadow Bluff; a brother, Herbert May, Jr., of Columbia, SC; nephews, Shane May and wife, Amanda, of Apopka, FL, Josh Reynolds and wife, Savannah, of Morgantown, and Tiler Bland of Meadow Bluff; niece, Erica Lynn May of Columbia, SC; very special friends, Larry (Mitch) and Mary Stover, Doug and Julie Wyandt, and Randy and Brenda Stump; and very special aunts, Jean Lightfoot of Gaithersburg, MD, and Ina DeLong and husband, Jim, of Rainelle.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday, June 21, at the Sewell Valley Baptist Church, Rainelle, with Pastor Milton Ker and Pastor Mike Whisman officiating. Entombment will follow in the Wallace Memorial Mausoleum at Clintonville.

Friends may call Sunday, June 20, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m., at the Wallace & Wallace Funeral Chapel, Rainelle.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Transplant Unit, National Institute of Health, 9000 Rockville Pike, Bethesda, MD 20892, or to the family to defray funeral expenses.
