EAST RAINELLE (RNS) - N. N. (Dock) Gillespie, 85, died Thursday afternoon in a Ronceverte hospital after a long illness.
Born at Craig, March 5, 1883, he was a son of the late William and Fannie Osborn Gillespie. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Little Sewell Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mary; four daughters, Mrs. Tessa Hlavacek, of Dexter, N. M., Mrs. Ruby Devrick of Dayton, Ohio, Miss Vergie Gillespie of King of Prussia, Del., and Mrs. Rachel Lee of New Castle, Del.; eight sons, Ray of Elkview, Troy of Tampa, Fla., Lowell of Belle, Noah of Waverly, Ohio, Paul of Columbus, Ohio, Clarence of Berea, Ky., Howard of Rainelle, and James of Mullens; five stepdaughters, Mrs. Frances Davidson of Kansas, Mrs. Helen Wyatt of Longdale, Calif., Mrs. Lenora Gillespie of Rainelle and Mrs. Hazel Fleshman and Mrs. Louise Sawyers, both of Baltimore, Md.; a stepson, George Brammer of Rainelle; four brothers, Renick of Ansted, John of Rich Creek, Va., Homer of Bellwood and Tony of Crichton, 30 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will he at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in the Little Sewell Baptist Church with Revs. Bert Jones and J. M. Holliday in charge. Burial will he in Surbaugh Cemetery at Craig.
The body is at the Don Smathers Funeral Chapel where friends may call after noon today.
