Margaret Thrasher McClung

WILLIAMSBURG ? Margaret Thrasher McClung, 73, passed away Sunday, Oct. 23, 2005, at CAMC in Charleston.

Born Feb. 27, 1932, at Trout, she was the daughter of the late Paul Grady and Jessie Gee Thrasher and was preceded in death by her son, Carl Gene McClung, sister, Cleo Simmons and brother, Leroy Thrasher.

Mrs. McClung was a retired Greenbrier County Deputy Sheriff with 18 years of service, was valedictorian of her graduating class at the Police Academy, a 4-H leader for 20 years, an EMT for Williamsburg Rescue Squad, a member of Lacy Presbyterian Church in Williamsburg and Frankford Presbyterian Church, a member of the Community Action Group, the Red Hats Society, Presbyterian Women of the Church, United Methodist Women of Andrew Chapel Farm Bureau and had served on the Greenbrier County Democratic Committee.

Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Edwin McClung; children, Robert Edwin McClung of Lewisburg, Jill Ann McClung of Clintonville, Ralph Andrew McClung and wife, Julie, of Lewisburg, and John Edgar McClung and wife, Suzanne, of Clintonville; daughter-in-law, Pamela McClung of Williamsburg; sister-in-law, Margaret Thrasher; grandchildren, Coleman Andrew McClung, and Travis Cameron McClung of Williamsburg and Lindsey Shairleen McClung of Lewisburg; stepgrandchildren, Liza and Daniel Honaker, and Terence and Joshua Acacio; several nieces and nephews and great- and great-great-nieces and nephews.

Service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Andrew Chapel United Methodist Church, Williamsburg with the Revs. Doyle Kester and Verlin Butcher officiating. Burial will follow in Andrew Chapel Cemetery.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Morgan Funeral Home in Lewisburg.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Williamsburg Rescue Squad.
