Two S.F. Cops Suspended 90 Days in 'Cover-Up' Case
Two San Francisco, policemen involved in a "cover-up" case were suspended for 90 days without pay yesterday.
The police commission, in ordering the suspensions, found Patrolman Robert J. Hanssen,
32, guilty of unofficerlike conduct and failure to report an alleged assault on a South San Francisco man in a tavern argument.
Sgt. John J. O'Connell, the other suspended officer, was accused of covering up to protest Hanssen and failing to make official reports of the incident.
On June 2 Hanssen allegedly took part while off-duty in a fist fight with Roland G. Shawver, 22, in a tavern. When Shawver and his wife, Diane, went to Ingleside Station to report the fight, they complained that they, were-given the runaround.
