LEWISBURG - Warren K. "Red" Patterson, 74, died at 5 p.m. Monday, Sept. 16, 2002, at The Brier Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Fairlea, following an extended illness. Born Nov. 5, 1927, in Hugart, he was the son of the late William and Ada V. Williams Patterson. Mr. Patterson was of the Protestant faith. He received his early education at Williamsburg School and was a retired self-employed demolitionist. He was an avid horseman and a former ringmaster in the Bluegrass Bowl at the State Fair of West Virginia. He held memberships in Masonic Lodge No. 42 AF and AM and was a former member of the Maxwelton Ruritan Club and an honorary member of the West Virginia Sheriffs' Association. He was preceded in death by his wife, Arla Patsy Hines Patterson, in 1962. Survivors include his daughter, Deborah Jean Graham and husband, Patrick, of Bluefield, Va.; Melissa Ratliff of Fairlea; a son, Warren Allen Patterson of North Carolina; two brothers, Carl A. Patterson and wife, Kathleen, of Fairlea and Jimmy Dale Patterson and wife, Kay Ellen, of Murrells Inlet, S.C.; granddaughter, Adrienne Hines Graham of Bluefield, Va.; seven other grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and two special friends, Bedford and Carol Hinkle of Lewisburg. Service will be 11 a.m. today at Memorial Chapel of McCraw Funeral home, Lewisburg, with the Rev. Jay Hicks officiating. Burial will follow in Wallace Memorial Cemetery, Clintonville. From Sam Black, his body will be transported to the cemetery by horse and wagon by his special friend, Bedford Hinkle. The family received friends 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Arrangements by McCraw Funeral home, Lewisburg.
