Mrs. Irene Shawver Is Dead in Richwood
RICHWOOD, Sept. 14 - A 78-year old childless woman, who had adopted five children and helped
rear eight others, died in a hospital here today. She was Mrs. Irene McClung Shawver of Clintonville, widow of the late Alfred M. Shawver.
The adopted children, all of whom survive, are Mrs. Mary Hallex of Washington, Mrs. Robert Bivens of
Meadow Bluff, Miss Ruth Shawver of San Francisco, Mr. Franklin Ferrell of Morgantown and Cecil
Flack at home. Surviving also was a brother, W. K. McClung of San Francisco.
Funeral sevices will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the home. Rev. George Lambert and Rev. Ray Perkins officiating. Burial will be at the End of the Trail cemetery in Clintonville under the direction of Wallace and Wallace mortuary.
Irene married Alfred Newton SHAWVER, son of Isaac R. SHAWVER and Eliza Jane DEITZ, on 15 Jan 1892 in Greenbrier Co., WV.26 (Alfred Newton SHAWVER was born on 20 Mar 1857 in Greenbrier Co., VA,16 died in 1933 46 and was buried in End Of The Trail Cemetery, Clintonville, Greenbrier Co., WV.)
