QUINWOOD - Raymond A. McClung, 79, died Friday evening, May 17, 2002, at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center, following a short illness.
Born July 29, 1922, at Quinwood, he was the son of the late Xerxie James and Ida Pearl Martin McClung.
Mr. McClung was a U.S. Army World War II veteran, having received a Purple Heart, a Bronze Service Star, a Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.
He was proficient with all weapons and landed on Omaha Beach, France, a few days after D-Day, June 6, 1944.
Mr. McClung owned and operated the Hill Top Restaurant in Quinwood for many years.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Velma Lorraine Thomas; and two brothers, Glen Randall and Roy Denzil McClung.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Frances Mizrahi McClung of Quinwood; and a son, Raymond A. McClung Jr. of Quinwood.
A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Wallace Memorial Cemetery at Clintonville, with the Rev. Houston Boothe and the Rev. Bobby Franklin officiating.
Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. today at Wallace & Wallace Chapel, Rainelle.
