RUPERT - Nelson L. McClung, 79, died Tuesday, May 14, 2002, in the VA Medical Center, Beckley, following a long illness.
Born July 13, 1922, in Bellburn, he was the son of the late Alban and Lona Hizer McClung.
Mr. McClung was a World War II Army veteran, having received the Purple Heart and a Bronze Star.
He was a self-employed heating and plumbing contractor in Chesapeake, Va.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jerry McClung in 1992; four sisters, Stella Watson, Verna Mukalla, Gertrue Sutherland and Essie Ledbetter; and seven brothers, Cecil, Carl "Boss," Clayton, Newton, Clarse, Alban and Richard McClung.
Survivors include a sister, Vera Jean Campbell of Hines; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home Chapel, Rainelle, with the Rev. Houston Boothe officiating. Burial will follow in Wallace Memorial Cemetery, Clintonville.
Friends may call 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
