CHARMCO - John Everette "Slim" McClung, 75, passed away Thursday, Oct. 4, 2001, near Greenbrier Valley Medical Center, Fairlea, following a short illness.
Born Sept. 25, 1926, at Shawver's Crossing, he was a son of the late Winfield and Pearl Jones McClung.
"Slim" was a retired coal miner, having worked for Leckie Smokeless Coal Co., and a World War II Army veteran.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Frank McClung.
Survivors include his wife, Della Lee Holstine McClung; two daughters, June Baldwin and her husband, Gary, of Charmco and Carol Green and her husband, Bo, of Westernport, Md.; two sons, Raymond "Pee Wee" McClung and his wife, Rose, of Rainelle and Douglas Holstine of Charmco; two sisters, Virginia McCracker of Sissonville and Marie McClung of Baltimore; three brothers, Huse McClung of Hines, Harold "Red" McClung of Rupert and Leighton McClung of Oberlin, Ohio; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Wallace and Wallace Chapel, Rainelle, with the Rev. Gary Seaton officiating. Burial will follow at Wallace Memorial Cemetery, Clintonville.
Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
