HINES ? Hazel M. Turner, 93, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2008, at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center, Fairlea, following a short illness.

Born Oct. 30, 1914, at Maywood (Big Sewell Mountain), she was the daughter of the late Tobie William and Daisy Simms McClung.

Besides being a homemaker, Mrs. Turner had worked in sewing plants at Richwood, Union and Rainelle, and had been a resident of Hines since 1937.

She was a former member of Big Sewell Baptist Church and moved her membership to Hines Baptist Church when it was organized in 1945. She was a charter member of Hines Baptist Church and held several offices there, including clerk for 16 1/2 years and teacher of the beginners and junior classes. She loved her church and was active in it until her health prevented her from doing so.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Turner, in 1976; an infant daughter, Mary Kathryn Turner; two sisters, Hilda McClung and Billie Carter; and three brothers, Haven, Hilbert and Leslie McClung.

Survivors include two daughters, Margaret Hall of Rupert and Sharon Fields and husband, Cledius, of Charlottesville, Va.; three sisters, Bernice Calkins and husband, Charles, of Baltimore, Md., and Ellenton, Fla., Thelma Lively of Rainelle and Gladys Coulter of Smoot; two granddaughters, two grandsons, four great-granddaughters, five great-grandsons and a great-great-granddaughter.

Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Chapel, Rainelle, with Pastor Gary Eisenman officiating. Burial will follow in Wallace Memorial Cemetery, Clintonville.

Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral chapel.
