CLINTONVILLE -- Lewis W. Flint, 79, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2005, at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center in Fairlea.
Born Dec. 2, 1925, at Clintonville, he was a son of the late Andrew Gordon and Elvira Hayslette Flint.
Mr. Flint was a World War II Marine Corps veteran, having served in the 4th Marine Division at the Battle of Iwo Jima. He was a member of John Paige Post No. 4484 of Veterans of Foreign Wars in Rainelle, and a member of the Senior Friends in Ronceverte.
Mr. Flint was an avid gardener, enjoyed fishing and was a Model-T Ford enthusiast. Lewis was a 37-year employee of the former Wall Petroleum Co. of Rainelle, and eight years prior to his retirement, he worked for Reynolds Oil Co. in Rainelle.
Mr. Flint attended West Point Baptist Church of Asbury.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Madeline, and two brothers, Clarence and Basil Flint.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Kathleen Osborne Flint; a daughter, Shirley Ann Hylton and husband, Gary, of Athens; four sisters, Anise Cales and husband, Hershey, of Clintonville, Anna Laura Spinks of Clintonville, Evelyn Tuckwiller of Craigsville and Margueritte Hanna and husband, Lloyd, of Frankford; and a brother, Harold Flint and wife, Betty, of Clintonville.
Service will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Wallace & Wallace Chapel, Rainelle, with the Rev. Ron Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Wallace Memorial Cemetery, Clintonville.
Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations of sympathy be made to either the Williamsburg Rescue Squad at Williamsburg, Greenbrier Co., WV 24991, or to West Point Baptist Church, HC 71 Box 51-AA, Asbury, WV 24916.
