ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Mary Olson Ciprianno, 84, formerly of the Beckley
area, died Wednesday, July 14, 1999, in St. Petersburg.

Born March 10, 1915, in Glen White, she was the first of eight children of
Eric Olson, who came to this country from Sweden, and Margaret McBride, who
came from Scotland.

Mrs. Ciprianno lived in the Beckley area for many years. Her first husband,
William O. "Brother" Bivens, was killed in a coal mining accident at Skelton
in July 1940.

She was employed by the old E.M. Payne Co. store on Main Street, Beckley, for
several years before moving to Florida, in the 1960s.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, George Harry,
Charles Edward and Eric; and a sister, Ann Falconer.

Survivors include her husband, Carman Ciprianno; two daughters, Nira Warden
and Mary Ann Davis, both of St. Petersburg, Fla.; three sons, William and Jim
Bivens, both of Birmingham, Ala., and Robert Dean of St. Petersburg; a
brother, Thomas Olson of Huntington; two sisters, Clara Sandberg of Silver
Spring, Md., and Margaret Beard of Beckley; 14 grandchildren and 13
great-grandchildren.

Graveside rites will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, at Sunset Memorial Park,
Beckley, with the Rev. Roy Owens, Calloway Heights Community Church, and
William Parker, Calloway Heights Baptist Church, officiating.


Mary married William Otis "Brother" BIVENS Sr., son of Otis Lewis BIVENS and Mollie Maude BRAGG. (William Otis "Brother" BIVENS Sr. was born on 12 Dec 1915 in Prince, Fayette Co., WV,4296 died on 6 Jul 1940 in Skelton, Raleigh Co., WV 4296 and was buried on 8 Jul 1940 in Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley, Raleigh Co., WV 4296.). The cause of his death was fractured skull due to slate fall in mines.
