Emily Burns Legg formally of Charleston, WV died on January 10, 2018 in Lewisburg, WV at the age of 79. She passed peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones at the family farm where she once played as a child. Emily's courage and unending faith in the Lord carried her through the challenges of declining health.
Emily was born on August 30, 1938 in Charleston, WV. She graduated from Charleston High School in 1956 and attended Marshall College. Emily retired after a long career at Marshall College of Graduate studies and the University of Charleston. She was an avid reader, loved gardening and traveling to visit family. She attended the Calvary United Methodist Church in Richlands, WV.
Emily was preceded in death by her parents, L.L. & Annabel Burns, sister Karen Blakey, son Robert Robinson, and grandson Austin Abbitt. She is survived by her loving husband Clyde Eugene Legg of Lewisburg, WV; her children, Terri Hanna (Wyatt) of So. Charleston, WV, Vicki Prosser of Lewisburg, WV, Wyatt Abbitt (Shilpa) of Edmond, OK, Alex Abbitt (Julia) of Morgantown, WV; as well as eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
There will be a private graveside service for immediate family at a later date.
