  	Obituary of Romia Watson Helems Romia Watson Helems age 84 of Beaver, WV passed away at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley on Saturday March 18, 2017. Born at Green Valley, WV on March 11, 1933, he was the son of the late Miller W. Helems (1897-1967) and Minnie C. Whitlock-Helems (1909-1986). Mr. Helems was a hardworking and proud WV coal miner. He was a member of the UMWA, District 17, and had worked for Consolidation Coal Company at Workman's Creek until it closed. He was a US Army Veteran serving during the Korean War. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Edna Helems; two daughters, Becky Helems-Settle & Dallas Settle of Mossy, and Pamela Helems-Fernett of Beckley; one brother, Harold Helema & Linda Helems of Quinwood; grandchildren, Jonathan Toney & Jane Toney of Navarre, FL, Christopher Herron & Carlynda Herron of Raleigh, NC, JoSette Smith & Bill Smith of Oak Hill, Scott Settle & Jamie Settle of Fayetteville, Jessica Settle & Stacy Settle-Denton of Fort Myers, FL; and his great grandchildren. Mr. Helems was preceded in death by his first wife, Harriet Mae Smith-Helems (1935-1997); two sisters, Evelyn Helems-Cochran (Deceased), and Bertha Helems-Gambrell (Deceased); two brothers, James Helems (Deceased) and Jack Helems (Deceased) and one great grandson, Slaton Drake Smith (Deceased).
