- Obituary - Gertrude Crane Hawkins
Gertrude "Peggy" Hawkins, 100, died Thursday, July 8, 1999, in a Rainelle care center following a long illness. Born January 20, 1899, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Stephen and Ida Collison [sic] Crane.
Mrs. Hawkins was a homemaker, and had been a resident of Crawley most of her life. She was a member of the Beaver Creek Baptist Church, Kieffer. She was preceded in death by her husband, E. Rockford Hawkins, in 1979; and two sons, C. Duward Hawkins in 1985 and Elmer R. Hawkins in 1989.
Survivors include a son David S. Hawkins of South Carolina; a daughter-in-law, C. D. (Bootz) Hawkins of Clintonville; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home Chapel, Rainelle, with the Rev. Leroy Crane officiating. Burial will follow in the Wallace Memorial Cemetery, Clintonville. Friends may call noon until time of the service Sunday at the funeral home. Arrangements by Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home, Rainelle.
