Joseph Price, Jr was one of nine children of Joseph Shores Price and Charity Bagby of Franklin County, Virginia. His father Joseph Shores Price was born in New Kent County, Va.
Joseph Shores's parents, Joseph and Ann Shores Price moved from New Kent Co. to Cumberland Co., Va., in cental Virginia, where they remained.
Joseph Shores Price (the father) received a grant of land in Buckingham County for his services in the French and Indian War, serving under Col. George Washington. From Buckingham Co.
Joseph Shores Price and his wife Charity moved to Franklin County, Virginia (Franklin County was still a part of Henry County when they located there. Franklin became a separate county in 1786.) Joseph Shores Price was a Revolutionary War Patriot from Henry County, contributing to the war effort.
Joseph, the son, was born in Buckingham County, and came to Henry Co. (became Franklin Co.) with his family. He married Nancy Webster 2 Jan. 1797 in Franklin Co., Va. He was a farmer. His wife Nancy died in 1821, Joseph outlived her by forty years, and probably remarried "Delila", as seen in the 1860 census. The names of his children are unclear;
however, in the 1860 Census, he is living beside a Reubin Price (age 44) and family, and a James Price (Age 47) and family, possibly sons or grandsons.
