- Obituary -- Frances Blake Reyonlds Kirby
Frances Blake Reynolds of 918 Baylor St., Staunton, died March 25, 2006, in Avon Park, Fla.
She was born in McDowell, a daughter of the late Russell W. and Marie (Ervine) Reynolds.
She graduated from Robert E. Lee High School and Dunsmore Business College.
She retired from Columbia Gas of Virginia, following 38 years of service.
Frances was a member of Olivet Presbyterian Church, where she served on various committees. She was a member, president, and held many offices with the Woodrow Wilson Lioness' and Lions' Club. She was a volunteer on the Western State Hospital Board and was an auxiliary member of the Augusta Medical Center Volunteer Services. She was chairperson for the Lights of Love for a number of years. She was a past member of the America's Birthday Celebration Committee.
Family includes a sister, Elizabeth R. "Libby" Barkley of Avon Park, Fla.; nine nephews and nieces, Scott Barkley, Linda B. Bear, Patricia Barkley, Stephanie B. Monroe, Kevin Burns, Gary Jones, Peggy J. McCool, Robert W. Reynolds and Lisa Reynolds; a number of greatnieces, great-nephews and cousins; a brother-in-law, Stephen K. Burns; and a sister-in-law, Ann R. Reynolds.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by two sisters, Doris R. Burns and Edith R. Jones; and three brothers, Robert D. Reynolds, James S. Reynolds, and Russell W. Reynolds Jr.
A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 7 p.m. March 31, 2006, in the Olivet Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Joe C. Brandon, after which the family will receive friends.
A service will be held at 2 p.m. April 1, 2006, in the church with the Rev. Brandon officiating. Entombment will follow in the Augusta Memorial Park.
Active pallbearers will be Delbert Grant, Lyle Fitzgerald, Eugene Sutton, Jerry Argenbright, Steve Richie, Hansford Johnson, Robert L. Hunter and Al Wimer.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Lioness' and Lions' Club, and Olivet Presbyterian friends attending the service.
The family requests that memorials be made to the Olivet Presbyterian Church, 1019 Richmond Road, Staunton, Va., 24401.
