- Obituary -- Jospeh Gordon Kirby, III
CAMBRIDGE -- J. Gordon Kirby Jr. [sic] of Wilmington, Del., formerly of Cambridge, died Friday, Jan. 15, 1999, at Saint Frances Hospital, Wilmington. He was 68.
Born Feb. 23, 1930, in Cambridge, he was the son of the late Ruth Ferins and J. Gordon Kirby Sr. [sic]
He attended schools in Cambridge and worked as a parts clerk at B. J. Linthicum's in Cambridge. He later worked with his wife's parents at Sullivan's Grocery, also in Cambrdige. in 1967 he moved to Wilmington, where he was employed as a parts clerk at Liberty Buick in Wilmington. He retired in 1985.
Mr. Kirby was a member of Cambridge Lodge No. 66 A. F. & A. M., a former member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Cambridge, and was a member of Penninsula McCabe United Methodist Church, Wilmington.
Mr. Kirby is survived by his wife, Dorothy S. Kirby, to whom he was married Sept. 10, 1949; a daughter Linda M. Martin and a son, Robert G. Kirby, both of Wilmington; and four grandsons.
Services will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 19, at Thomas Funeral Home, Cambridge. Burial will be at Dorchester Memorial Park.
