JOHN Christopher WISNER, 59 of Satellite Beach, Florida, died peacefully with his loving wife, Monica at his side on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at William Childs Hospice House.
John was born December 9, 1952 in Broadstairs, County of Kent, England to Leland and Helen Wisner. He was raised in Annandale, Virginia before moving to Colorado where he attended Mesa State College. John married Monica Manning on May 22, 1993 in Melbourne Beach, Florida.
John served in the United States Army during Vietnam, and was decorated with the National Defense Service Medal, M-16 Marksman Badge and the Marksman badge with hand grenade bar.
John was a certified Advanced Open Water Scuba diver, a Wildland Firefighter for the Bureau of Land Management in Colorado, a licensed guide and outfitter in Colorado, worked as the cowboy for the Aubert Ranch, Glade Park, Colorado and ended his career as a geophysical well logger and geologist for BPB Instruments, Inc.
His recreational interests included hunting, fishing, horseback riding, scuba diving and sailing the intercoastal waterways in his sailboat with constant canine companion, Alice. John was a voracious reader and his home library is a testament to his desire to never be without a book.
John is survived by his devoted wife of 19 years, Monica, his granddaughter, Sarah Strand, and grandson, Erik Strand, all of Satellite Beach. A brother, Leland Wisner of Vancouver, Washington, a sister, Karen Gellner of Manassa, Virginia, three nephews, one niece, many cousins, aunts and uncles. John was a loyal and devoted friend who was loved by all and left behind a wealth of rich memories, not the least of which was his use of a self-designated nickname, Alfonso Gaspipe, the famous Mexican Race Car Driver!
John will be missed and fondly remembered by his extended family and close friends, Terry Wright of Appomattix, Virginia; William “Bill” Parks of Glenwood Springs, Colorado; Dana Novinskie of St. Paul, Minnesota; Pam Sharp-Colvin, Steve and Ellie Colvin, and Charles Robert Novinskie all of Glade Park, Colorado.
