- Obituary pf Eddie Mae Rushton Smith
Daughter of the late Herbert Nelson Rushton, Sr., and Alma Mae Lee, she was the widow of James Everette "Buck" Smith (married on October 27, 1945, in Sylvester, Worth County, GA).
She was a member of Big Clear Creek Baptist Church of Rupert for 58 years. She was an active member of American Baptist Women. She was a member of the Red Hat Society.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Annie Warren Rushton English; and three brothers, Elbert Lee Rushton, Herbert Nelson Rushton, Jr., and Walter Burke Rushton. She was survived by two daughters, Julia Elizabeth Smith Thompson and Verna Sue Smith Bowes (Bill); two sons, James Rushton Smith and Lee Everette Smith (Pat); daughter-in-law, Susan L. Smith; four sisters-in-law, Eloise Rushton, Blanche Rushton, Helen Rushton and Ruth Smith; nine grandchildren, Lorrie Thomas (Jeff), Lisa Lively (Jeff), Stephanie Bland (Al), Davina Agee (Mark), Elliot Smith, Jared Smith, Nelson Smith, Leah Bowes and Joseph James "J.J." Bowes; and eight great-grandchildren.
Her funeral was held at Big Clear Creek Baptist Church of Rupert with Pastor Scott Morehead officiating.
