Was Descendant of John Taylor Once President of Untied States
The funeral of Mrsw. Laura M. Starr took place from her late residence in Newville, Pa., Sunday afternoon. Funeral services were held at three o'clock, the officiating clergymen being the Revs. F. T. Wheeler, her pastor, of the big Spring Presbyterian Church; George M. Reed, pastor of the United Presbyterian Church, and J. J. Kerr, pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, all of Newville.
Mrs. Starr, who died Nov. 1st, in the 81st year of her age, was the widow of William McKendrick Starr, a former member of the Maryland Legislature and a member of the personal staff of the Governer of the state.
Mrs. Starr's maiden name was Rainey, and she was born and raised in Baltimore, Md., but for seventeen years has lived in Newvile, Pa. She was a descendant of John Taylor, President of the United States, and her ancestors of an old Portuguese family, emigrated to this country in Revolutionary times.
