- Obituary -- Maxine Velma Walkup
Rupert — Maxine V. Walkup, 91, of Rupert passed away on Monday evening, July July 11, 2016, at her home following a long illness.
She is preceded in death by her husband Garland Hamilton Walkup in 1999; two sons, Eddie and Roger Walkup; five brothers, William, Sherman, Albert, Harvey and Charlie Shortridge; two sisters, Alice Franzello, Goldie White.
Born on July 22, 1924 at Marfrance, she was the daughter of the late Miles and Lydia Anderson Shortridge.
She was a homemaker, a member of Orient Hill Freewill Baptist Church, she was a devoted Christian, loved her plants and flowers, loved to cook and paint but loved Jesus most of all.
Those left to cherish her memory are one daughter, Joyce Walkup Smith of Hopewell, V.A.; two sons, Harold Lee Walkup and wife Janet of Hines, Garland Wayne Walkup of Rupert; ten grandchildren and several great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 15, 2016 at Rupert Church of God, Rupert with Pastor Aaron Trigg, Pastor Mike Kees and Pastor Lee Dunbar officiating. Entombment will follow at Wallace Memorial Mausoleum, Clintonville. Friends may visit with the family 6-8 p.m. at the church Thursday evening
