Robert Gene Hunter passed away Wednesday, April 5, 2017, following a short illness.
Born at Kieffer, he was the son of the late Jennings and Zenna Hunter.
Robert was a retired coal miner and an avid hunter. He was a member of the Clear Creek Rod and Gun Club. He was a kind, compassionate man who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his loving wife of 70 years, Doris; 6 children Nancy Mellen and husband Bill of New Market, Virginia, Brenda Synder and husband Bill of Lewisburg, Mike Hunter and wife Libby of Crawley, Jimmy Hunter and wife Sunny of Beckley, Ricky Hunter and wife Cheryl of Crawley, Jeanie Richardson and husband Paul of Frazier’s Bottom; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 1 sister Gaye Elits of Wabash, Indiana; 1 brother Carl Hunter an wife Cora of Rupert.
Services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 10, in the Beaver Creek Baptist Church with Pastor David Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the Burns Cemetery at Keiffer.
Pallbearers are Travis Hunter, Devin McCallister, Timothy Rice, Ritchie Rice, J.R. Dorsey, and Jason Davis.
Friends may call one hour before the service from 1 - 2 p.m. at the church.
