- Obituary -- Frances Irene McClung Medows
Frankie McClung Meadows, 83, of Rupert, went home to be with the Lordon Tuesday, December 24, 2013, at Bowers Hospice House, Beckley, after a very brief illness.
Born Sept. 12, 1930, in Rupert, she was the daughter of the late Oather H. and Nina I. McClung of Rupert.
Frankie was a very special, genuine lady to all who knew her. You never had to wonder what she was thinking. If you were in her presence, she woul tell you! She loved spending time with her immediate and extended family, and her incredible cooking skills were known far and wide, especially the chicken dumplings and sweet rolls. Frankie had a deep-based faith in the Lord and traveled often to [hear] gospel music about the Lord she loved.
In addition to her parents, Frankie was preceded in death by her husband, Ulysses C. Meadows, and three siblings, Oather H. McClung, Jr., Dennis McClung and Dorothy McClung.
Survivors include two daughters, Tanya Meadows Duke and spouse, Bruce, of Hillsville, Va., and Lori Meadows Moller of Bloomingdale, Ohio; five grandchildren, Christopher Duke with the U.S. Army at Fort Stewart, Ga., Justin Meadows of Las Vegas, Nev., Flor Moller of Atlanta, Ga., and Jennifer and Jonathan Moller of Bloomingdale, Ohio; four sisters, Frances Cales of Winchester, Va., Florence Anderson of Ravenswood, Naomi Pittsenbarger and husband, Bill, of Summerville, S.C., and Martha McClung of Rupert; four brothers, Don McClung,and wife, June, of McLeansville, N.C., and Larry McClung and wife, Janey, of Murrells Inlet, S.C.; 10 nieces, 11 nephews; and many great nieces, -nephews and cousins.
Visitation will precede the service from 11 a.m to 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 28 at Sewell Valley Baptist Church, Rainelle.
Service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the church with Pastor Fred Fryar officiating. Burial will follow in Wallace Memorial Cemetery in Clintonville.
