East Rainelle (RNS) - William Robert Scudder, 79, died Saturday morning at the Greenbrier Valley Hospital, Ronceverte, following a 12-day illness. Death was attributed to complications.
A retired farmer, he was born Nov. 16, 1887, at Rupert, the son of the late Fulton and Frances Johnson Scudder.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mary Hoke Scudder; two sons, Ira and Roy, East Rainelle; four daughters, Mrs. Mae Cooper, Alderson; Mrs. Oleta Wonzniak, Glen Burnie, Maryland; Mrs. Margie Barrett, North Tazwell, Va.; and Mrs. Frances Harmon, Delbert; two sisters,, Mrs. Rosa Price, Santa Rosa, Calif.; and Mrs. Anna Thompson, Sweet Springs; 17 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at the Sewell Valley Baptist Church, East Rainelle, of which he was a member. Officiating will be the Rev. P. E. Orndorff. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The body was taken to the home Saturday afternoon by the Nickell Funeral Home.
