- Obituary -- Lorena Mae Scudder Cooper
RONCEVERTE -- Lorena Mae Scudder Cooper, age 82, formerly of Alderson, died Monday, Aug. 9, 2004, at the Brier Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Ronceverte following a short illness.
Born March 29, 1922, at Rainelle, she was the daughter of the late William Robert and Mary Hoke Scudder.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Tom C. Cooper; a son, Tom Franklin Cooper; a brother, Ira Scudder; and three sisters, Lola Scudder, Margie Barrett and Frances Harmon.
Mrs. Cooper was a wife, mother and homemaker and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include a daughter, Juanita M. Samples and her husband, the Rev. Donald K. Samples of Lewisburg; a brother, Roy Scudder and wife, Arbutus of Ashland, Ky.; a sister, Oleta Wozniak, and her husband, Stanley of Glen Burnie, Md.; and six grandchildren, James T. Persinger Sr. and his wife, Debbie of Ronceverte, John W. Persinger Sr. of Ronceverte, Rex A. Persinger Sr. and his wife, Jane of Barstow, Md., Elva A. Persinger of Fairlea, Donna S. Sanders and her husband, Roy Lee of Ballard, and Elsie M. Reyes of Newark, Del.; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Service will be 11 a.m. Friday at the Lobban Funeral Home Chapel, Alderson, with the Revs. Nelson Staples III and Greg Scott officiating. Burial will follow in the Maude Chapel Cemetery, Dawson.
