- Obituary -- Anthony Dean Simms
Anthony Dean Simms, 61, of Beckley passed away on January 17, 2023.
Born on June 25, 1961 in Hinton; he was the son of the late Joseph “J.R. “Ray Simms and Althea Ford Simms. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings, Sharon Lepley, Joe Simms, Cheryl Sparks, Patsy Simms and Doug Simms.
Tony was a retired music teacher having taught in Greenbrier, Fayette and Raleigh County. He was a graduate from Greenbrier West, WV Institute of Technology and earned his master’s degree from Morehead State University, Tony was very talented artistically and musically having shared his gifts through the years in various choirs, choruses and theaters.
He was a member of the Beckley Community United Methodist Church. Tony was very generous and loving to all his family and friends. He will be missed.
Those left to cherish his memory are his sisters, Judi Feazell, Betty Plumley, Kathy Cales; brothers, Kevin (Cindy) Simms, Forest “Doogie” Simms; brother-in-law, Roger Sparks; ; known as Uncle Tony to many nieces and nephews; special friends, Mark and Pam Schrader and family; extended family and many, many good friends. Tony is also survived by his loving 4-legged companion, Skeeter.
Cremation has taken place. Interment of remains will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 11, 2023 at Wickline Cemetery, Meadow Bridge. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 with visitation from 1:00 until time of service at Beckley Community Methodist Church, 217 South Heber St., Beckley.
