- Roy Calvin Sims
RAINELLE - Roy Calvin Sims, 74, died Monday, May 17, 1999, in a
Beckley hospital following a long illness.
Born March 22, 1925, at Rainelle, he was the son of the late Will
and Bertie Kenney Sims.
Mr. Sims was a mechanic and was formerly employed by Boley
Chevrolet in Rainelle.
He was a U.S. Army veteran and attended World Wide Church of God,
Summersville.
He was preceded in death by a son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy Roy
Sims and Doris Sims; a brother, Rod Sims; and two sisters, Maybelle
Hunter and Freda Armstrong.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Gibson Sims; a son, Dennis
Calvin Sims and his wife, Rita, of Beckley; three sisters, Mary Knight
and Martha Ellison, both of Florida, and Chila Sherman of Beckley;
three brothers, Ralph and Troy Sims, both of Rainelle, and David Sims
of Georgia; three grandchildren, Nancy Leatherberry of Ohio and
Melissa Sims and Jeremy Sims, both of Beckley; and a great-grandson,
Zachery James Leatherberry of Ohio.
Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Smathers Funeral Home Chapel,
Rainelle, with the Rev. Warren Wilson officiating. Burial will follow
in Sims Cemetery, Rainelle. Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at the
chapel.
Pallbearers will be Billy, Hugh, Jeremy, Bobby, Burton and
Matthew Sims.
Arrangements by Smathers Funeral Home, Rainelle.
