- Obituary for Romaine Marlene Lipps
Romaine Lipps of Manassas Park, Virginia, died on July 19, 2014, and the lights of heaven are shining a little brighter because of her gently shining and loving spirit. Romaine was known by many as “Grammy” due to her unlimited kindness and acceptance of everyone she met. She loved and will be greatly missed by her dogs Knuckles and Boots, and had much fun rooting for her favorite team, the Redskins.
Romaine was born in Quinwood, West Virginia, where she lived until 1958, and has lived in Manassas since 1960. She worked as a cafeteria manager at Baldwin School for 10 years, and then worked as a medical receptionist at the Manassas Medical Center for 30 years. She retired as a medical receptionist for Dr. James Werner.
This beautiful, loving lady is survived by four children: Betsy O’Dell, husband Ted; Bucky Lipps, wife Barbara; Brenda Lipps-Knowles, husband Ken; Bonnie Navarro, husband Billy; her “adopted” daughter Nancy Wilson and son Zack; sister Linda Dorsey and husband Jim.
She also is the grandmother of 5 (Marty Powell, Zachary Cooper, Calvin O’Dell, Isaac Knowles, and Tim Knowles), the great grandmother of 6, and great-great-grandmother of 2.
Romaine was preceded in death by her husband Eugene Lipps, her grandchild Shawn Cooper, sister Nancy Harris, and parents Burke and Maymie McClung.
The services in memory of Romaine for friends and family will be held as followed: Monday evening is visitation at Pierce Funeral Home in Manassas 6:00 to 9:00pm. The funeral is Tuesday at 3:00 at St Marks United Methodist Church in Manassas and the burial is in Clintonville West Virginia at the Wallace Cemetery with visitation at 1:00 and a service at 1:30.
